Ed, is the Manager, SmartGrid Technology Planning at KCP&L In this role, he is responsible developing near- and long-term technology plans to guide the development of KCP&L’s vision for the future energy distribution network or SmartGrid. KCP&L's SmartGrid initiative involves new integrated technologies designed to better supply, manage, and enable more efficient use of energy both by the utility and the customer. Ed is currently the lead technology planner for the KCP&L’s SmartGrid Demonstration which was selected for grant funding by the DOE as a Regional SmartGrid Demonstration Project.
Prior to joining KCPL, he was Vice President and Principal at PlanGraphics where he managed the Frankfort Ky. based Utility/Industry consulting practice. Ed began his career employed at Wisconsin Power & Light (Alliant Energy) where he held numerous Distribution Engineering positions.
Ed holds a BS in Electrical Engineering (Power) from the University of Illinois, Urbana, IL and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Wisconsin.
