Gary Cohen brings more than twenty-five years of global leadership, expertise, industry insight and IT customer knowledge to his current position as General Manager, Global Communications Sector, IBM Corporation.

Mr. Cohen has worldwide revenue, profit and customer satisfaction responsibility for IBM’s clients in three industries: telecommunications, media and entertainment, and energy and utilities. He also leads IBM’s efforts in the emerging business areas of Digital Media and Wireless Broadband Solutions. Mr. Cohen is a member of IBM’s senior leadership team.

Previously, Mr. Cohen was General Manager of IBM's Pervasive Computing division, a cross-IBM initiative that includes wireless, portals, speech technology and embedded software. Mr. Cohen also was responsible for Software Group's solutions initiative as well as the cross-IBM Sensors and Actuators business unit. Through his leadership, Pervasive Computing developed from an emerging business area into a key element of the IBM Software Group portfolio.

Mr. Cohen joined IBM in 1978 as a systems engineer in the New York Retail branch and has held numerous executive positions during his career. As Vice President, Strategy, he was the principal architect of IBM’s business growth strategies. Other senior leadership roles include General Manager, IBM Global Telecommunications Industry; Vice President of IBM’s Communications Sector, Asia Pacific; Vice President of the IBM Consulting Group, and Vice President of Marketing of the Internet Division.

Mr. Cohen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and psychology from Union College and a Masters of Business Administration in finance from New York University. He serves on the Converging Technologies Advisory Board of Union College.
